Isabelle Cardinal on Imagination

What is imagination, really? Maybe it’s just the little brother of Miss Creativity? I don’t know about you, but, for me, this phrase by Einstein resonates: "Imagination is more important than knowledge." No need to be a super-eccentric individual to be imaginative (or to believe in unicorns, for that matter). To be able to imagine a different world and extraordinary things is a bit like adding color to an otherwise very gray world.

Isabelle CardinalBorn and raised in Montreal, Canada, Isabelle Cardinal knew at an early age that she wanted to be an artist. She discovered her passion for illustration while doing her B.A. in graphic design at the University of Quebec in Montreal. Through the years, she has developed a style of her own that is both recognizable and personal. Her work is done by layering multiple photos (vintage ones that she collects and new ones that she takes herself) and adding textures in a digital collage.

She has been working as a professional illustrator for fifteen years now, doing mostly editorial illustrations for magazines and newspapers from around the globe. She considers herself the luckiest person alive to be able to live her passion every day. She lives in Trois-Rivières, where she manages an often-busy calendar and a joyful ten-year-old boy.
